Frequently Asked Questions

What specific scenes or figures will be depicted, ?

The Dome iconography will feature the icon of the Ascension of the Lord, with Christ ascending in the center and the Theotokos and the 12 apostles attending. On the the drum 16 of the prophets will be depicted.

Who is the iconographer?

Our Iconographer is Dallas based Subdeacon Vladimir Grigorenko who also realized the existing iconography at St. John’s.

Will there be opportunities for donors to sponsor specific aspects of the iconography, such as individual saints or scenes?

Yes! We will have donation opportunities for both specific saints and general donations towards the project.

What style of iconography will be used?

We will use the same style of Byzantine icons matching our existing iconography.

How long is the project expected to take from start to finish?

The project is expected to start beginning of December 2024 and is expected to finish in April 2025, before Holy Week.

Will the church remain open during the installation, or will there be any disruptions to services?

Absolutely! The Church will remain fully functional during the project, but scaffolding will be present under the dome for the entire duration. There will be minor inconveniences but we will continue with a fulls schedule of services
